This is the second interview with Jason Craven I've listened to. The other was with Matt Sitman and Sam Adler-Bell on their Know Your Enemy podcast. Remarkable how little overlap there was in the parts highlighted. Both interviews were great.
Regarding a national alternative to military service, the podcast Beau of the Fifth Column/Belle of the Ranch has floated the idea of de-emphisizing the US roll as the world's policeman and instead use US resources to become the world's EMT. A national service dedicated disaster relief would provide an alternative path to express masculinity. Their idea comes up less as Trump destroys US power (hard and soft) at an astonishing rate.
This was interesting (and I have zero military experience; one older brother who served in Viet Nam). It makes me wonder it there's a similar problematic dynamic in police training...
