It’s a rare treat to encounter genuinely clever humor in political writing, and all the more remarkable here given that the subject matter is so grotesquely horrific. Sharing

They're down to about the right number to form a band called "The Irrelevants."

"Scott finishes his point by saying that raising the retirement age for people who do physical labor is a huge deal actually, which is a great argument. But if Scott believes this, why does he want to raise retirement age for blue-collar workers in their 20s and 30s?"

1) Because they're young now and in politics now is forever. So they're forever young.

2) Because old people vote and young people won't, especially not for next year's set of clowns.

Yup there's plenty of time to blow smoke up their asses in 20 or 30 years.

This debate comes from a world where Chris Christie is a moderate, Joe Biden is a radical leftist and Vivek Ramaswamy isn't a parody. How much lead does one have to ingest to live in that world?

The moderators missed the question I would have found most entertaining: "How do you feel about Mike Johnson expecting his son to police daddy's porn-watching activity?" I really wish they'd asked that.

Yes, plenty of people including college professors are "refusing to condemn Hamas" and plenty of them are celebrating the actions of Hamas as "freedom fighting". I quick google search will confirm.

Likewise, plenty of people are equating Israel to Hamas, and all Jews to Israel, which is pernicious AF.

All while tearing down posters of kidnapped children. I dunno. It's a thing.

"all Jews to Israel"

Funny thing is, a few years ago, pre-pandemic, I could criticize Israel's ruling government for being batshiat conservative, cruel, and using genocidal language towards Palestinians, and I'd be called an antisemetic by pro-Israel people because Israel = Judaism. It was fairly consistent pressure that you couldn't support Jewish people in general without supporting anything Israel did.

It got violent enough and threatening enough that I left Twitter at the time because the death threats and threats to dox me were starting to get a little too real.

There's a real effort by certain propagandists, some of them Israeli sponsored according to some articles that have come out in the last few years, to equate all of Judaism with the government of Israel. Not even the people of Israel. The government. We're seeing blowback now. It sucks and is terrible. But the Monkey's Paw curled a finger and here we are. Now innocent people are suffering for the political ambitions of a few dickheads. Which seems to be the central theme here in this entire conflict- Hamas and Israel are both willing to have innocent people suffer a great deal for their ambitions.

Thanks so much for watching. I tuned it on late and couldn’t handle but about 10 minutes.

The fact that a neocon like Nicki Haley represents the reasonable wing of the Republican bar still dumbfounds me.
