Great writing, though you have ruined my morning with the fundamental truth of the situation. I’ve certainly been in the camp of “vote, because this may be the last time votes matter,” but I’m not sure what comes next. The urge to lash out is strong, but that would allow the authoritarians to crush opposition in the name of law and order. The left cannot use the same playbook as the oligarchs. That plays to the oligarch’s strength of creating fear. I suppose that leaves mutual aid and civil disobedience as the best tools for resisting. Neither of which I am well versed in. And Al’s acceptance this fighting back will take a long time. Given that it’s been a 40-year project to subvert popular democracy, the only options are a 20-year struggle to recover it or acceptance of 200 years of darkness.
Like Bill said excellent read though you’ve ruined my morning. I so want to share with friends who are still only sort of paying attention. Worry they can’t ingest all of that and not give up. I’ll focus on this:
“Local politics have never mattered more.”
Get involved into elect X candidate
In 2016, I did just that and focused all my energy on state legislature — in PA.
Worked on a massive and well organized 2018 congressional campaign (like dirt road revival before it was given a name) and lost. Found like minds and now we meet monthly to fight back. It is hard.

This is a new level of pronoun opposition, well done
