A little story: A couple of years ago, I was talking to a veteran of the Vietnam war. He was talking about how well the VA had taken care of him during a recent medical procedure and bragging at how it didn't cost him a dime. He went on at length about the level of care he received and I finally interjected, "Seems like a good way to do healthcare. Maybe they should try that with everyone."
He promptly turned purple and started sputtering about how he had EARNED that. His son in law, an honorably discharged Marine (peacetime, no VA healthcare) lost his temper at the Vietnam vet at that point and the whole thing almost went to blows. I sat there, trying to figure out what I had done to turn a friendly dinner into a fight.
Another great piece from a fresh viewpoint.
That was fuckin' cool.
Yeah it’s insane watching people argue against single payer healthcare while they pay premiums and I don’t
Damn right! I was a part of the greatest socialist organization on the planet for 24 years! Go Navy!

What a great post. It deserves to be a TV ad and a billboard.
Now if it only covered dental as well. Health care is a human right.
