A cut to the bone. While I enjoy reading this I also feel some of it is none of my damn business. Learning while intruding…..sometimes, not often, I am happy I am 70. Most of my train wrecks stayed private.
I wonder if this might have been Hunter Thompson's biggest stroke of genius: to create a giant spectacle of a persona like a suit of armor to protect the fragile human at its core. I wonder if it could have survived our the modern era?
I always thought your departure from the Portland scene was more than a bit unfortunate, and it's worthy of consideration that there are others who have been given the same treatment. I have to applaud you for using it as a catalyst in that moment. It seems to have been a good move professionally, even if it has been isolating personally.
