I was curious how you were feeling right now. Good column as always.

I think that a lot of the mixed feelings for Kamala, at least inside me, can be tempered by the knowledge that most likely she is going to have a lot of Biden's administration surrounding her. She has an apparatus to hit the ground at full speed and a pressure to continue a lot of Biden's administration's work. She may buck that, but if she's smart she'll keep as much of it going as she can.

The Gaza thing is a steaming pile of shit but like you said, there literally isn't a better option on the table at this point. If there's an alternative, I'm all ears, but I've been all ears for almost a year now and I haven't heard anyone come up with a better idea that doesn't involve giving Project 2025 the chance it wants to turn this nation literally into a christofascist state. I agree, we're at harm reduction.

On a side note, did you bail on Blue Sky?

Can someone who has actually read the Project 2025 comment on it. Every time I read something about it, it turns out not to be true when I go to the website and search the document.

I’m honestly getting tired of our side sacrificing integrity for political gain. If what we stand for is good and true, then why are we lying so much? I don’t get it. Our side is right, so why are we being dishonest?

If Trump and the Republicans are such great supporters of Project 2025, you’d expect them to be shouting it from the rooftops and promoting it at every opportunity, but they’re not. And it’s published and available for free, so they’re not trying to keep it a secret either.

Trump has said "I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they're saying and some of the things they're saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them." Now we all know that he’s a colossal lair, but when has he ever been shy about promoting what he believes?

It’s clear to me that our side has a serious credibility issue, and it’s self-inflicted.

The border IS a problem, but we say it isn’t (“The border is secure and the border is not open.” - Mayorkas). I have friends who can’t access basic human services because of the influx of migrants, and migrant crime IS becoming a serious issue in my city.

The oppression of the Palestinian people IS a problem, but we repeated the falsehoods told by Hamas without vetting them (The Israelis did NOT bomb the Al-Ahli Hospital and kill 500 people, as reported by the New York Times). The truth is bad enough. We don’t need to lie to prove our point, and it diminishes our credibility when we do it.

And people like Joe Scarborough from MSNBC are not doing us any favors.

“Start your tape right now because I'm about to tell you the truth. And F--- you if you can't handle the truth. This version of Biden intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever. Not a close second. And I have known him for years. The Brzezinski have known him for 50 years. If it weren't the truth I wouldn't say it." - Joe Scarborough

The President lied about his health, Harris lied about his health, and Joe Scarborough told the biggest lie. I trusted him and he lied to us, and he did it intentionally. Whatever happened to journalistic integrity? How about vetting yours sources? Do they not teach that anymore at Columbia?

Journalists are supposed to be honest, impartial, objective, fair, and accurate. I don’t see that anymore, especially from our side. Activists are not journalist, and I’m tired of them pretending they are. That isn’t the job.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to vote for the Dems, but I used to think that our side was the one telling the truth; now, I’m not so sure. I wasn’t raised to lie or support liars, but here we are doing it. And is it worth turning ourselves into monsters in order to fight a monster? I don’t want to win by lying, cheating and stealing, and I don’t want to turn into a piece of shit in pursuit of the greater good. I think we’re better than that.

Great writing as always.

At this moment in history, it looks like Harris the cop can be used to great advantage. She's already blasted Trump with, "I know his type." I hope she extends this to white collar crime more broadly. She can point to wage theft and income tax evasion as places that need more policing, while advertising the drop in violent crime since she and Biden were elected. A law and order for white collar crimes can fit well with an economic fairness message.

Watching the speaking event she did today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yYlG1KSqE4

I was worried that she was going to be awkward and not a little more juiced in since I saw a lot from her in 2020.

She's a *lot* better speaker than she was 4 years ago. She's still going to be awkward AF at times I can tell but like, she might be able to make that more endearing. I see some of Biden's public speaking patterns in her. She interacts with the crowd better, she is a *far* more natural speaker. We'll see her chops but honestly a lot of concerns I had have faded somewhat. Without hyperbole, what I had hoped she had done, which was spent the last 4 years learning to be a national level politician, seems like it may be what she's done. Time will of course tell but day one? Did good.

Very good piece, quite helpful. I was very excited to see Harris lead the ticket (how much of this is due to the end of the agony, I can't say). I have a very good feeling about this, in the cautious and gun shy way we have developed and your seven point analysis was really helpful. Harris is not a sure-shot home run, but she has a lot going for her and for the democrats to raise 100 million dollaars in 24 hours after the event sure shows some enthusiasm out there in the neighborhoods. Keep up the good work.
