saw the news while scrolling past Hasan's twitter on the shitter, and immediately my first thought was "this website is gonna be fuckin' great today"
but immediate polling shows basically no change. the people who were already voting for Trump may be energized, but numerically there's really no shift so far; it's the same close-call shitshow it's been, and really, that tracks with how the center of American politics works: promise something substantial in the self-interest of the laboring classes, or fuck off

After the first hour, I walked away from social media, got a little high, and made a fire in the backyard fire pit. Stuck with reading a fantasy series. It was a good choice.
Eased back into media today. The fact that the shooter appears to fit the profile of a school shooter as much as anything makes scapegoating a "them" group much less likely. Other than that, the future remains unclear. I don't think this helps Trump as much as many believe, but it certainly doesn't hurt his campaign. The way events move these days, yesterday's events may be background noise by early August.
